Urban Librarians Unite is currently taking donations for a book drive to benefit children who were victims of Hurricane Sandy.
We are seeking new and good condition used children’s books and new unmarked children’s coloring and activity books (with crayons if possible). These books will be distributed to young victims of the storm who are currently living in shelters in New York City.
If you or your organization would like to make a donation please contact us at: urbanlibrariansunite@gmail.com
As with all relief efforts, logistics continue to be key. If you would be willing to host a drop off station where you could receive and hold materials for us please contact us and let us know.
We appreciate your support and will be calling on you for further help as we support the victims of the storms and the libraries which serve them.

If you have anyone driving up from Philadelphia, I’d be happy to drop off/donate boxes of books, crayons, and even some DVDs. Could even get my kids to get their school involved. (I can talk to them when they get home; maybe WE’LL drive up…)
We are a brownie girl scout troop willing to gather and send you these things if you will provide more information. I have a family member who, if it is still held, will be there in a couple of weeks for an art show. I may be able to have her bring them instead of mailing them, but I’m willing to consider mailing them too. Where would we mail/or bring them?
Hey, Angie. Does any of the information here help? http://urbanlibrariansunite.org/2012/11/05/sandy-childrens-book-relief/
If not, please hit up our contact page! Thanks for your interest.
