Christian Zabriskie – Executive Director and Member of the Board ex-officio
Christian Zabriskie is a library administrator for the Yonkers Public Library. He is very active in the American Library Association and the New York Library Association. He is the co-author of Grassroots Library Advocacy: A Special Report. Christian has worked as a children’s librarian, a teen librarian, a reference librarian, a collection development librarian, a cataloger, and special researcher.
Lauren Comito – Chair
Lauren Comito is a cape wearing, ukulele playing, tech training, activist librarian in NYC. From her day job as Assistant Community Library Manager for the Rochdale Village branch of Queens Library, to her position as the Board Chair of Urban Librarians Unite she has a real problem turning down work. Lauren is a key figure in modern urban library activism and has been instrumental in developing an organization which has received international attention while scoring political victories at home. She is creative, passionate about connecting library patrons to services, and a true believer in the ability of the library to change people’s lives and communities for the better. If you aren’t a believer, get the hell out of her way.
Naomi Ducat – Treasurer
Naomi is a recent graduate of Queens College of the City University of New York. Driven by her interests in advocacy, education, and social responsibility, her experiences include positions as a business academy trainer then communications assistant at the Queens Library and a communications intern at the Department of Defense. Moreover, she spent her last semester working as the foreign affairs intern at the White House for the Office of Vice President Joe Biden. Naomi is a member and two-time scholarship recipient of New York Women in Communications, where she also serves as a member of the Sponsorship Committee, and she is an organizing member of the White House Internship Alumni Network Social Committee. She recently moved to Washington DC to begin her career at Deloitte as an analyst for Federal Agencies.
Joanne King – Secretary
Jennifer Manley is a New York City based government relations and communications consultant specializing in non-profit and cultural institutions. She spent four years heading the communication and government affairs department of the Queens Library. She has since joined the private sector and is the Managing Director for the New York City office of Prime Strategies, a nationwide public affairs firm.
