Libraries are one of the few community places where all of society can gather, interact, and engage in self education. The impact of libraries on our neighborhoods and citizens is desperately important. Where else can you find a romance novel, search the internet and get help looking for a job all in the same building? JUST in the library.
As part of it’s mission to support libraries at risk, ULU operates the Save NYC Libraries Campaign. Through this campaign, Urban Librarians Unite engages in advocacy and educational programs to help spread the word about library services and fight for appropriate budget allocations, especially in New York City. We collect postcards, hold rallies and conduct the now annual 24 Hour Read In.
